The generosity of organ donors and their families that have enabled the lives of transplant recipients to be transformed is being recognised tomorrow during DonateLife Thank You Day.

Minister for Regional Services, Decentralisation and Local Government Mark Coulton thanks both deceased and living donors for their transformational gift and encouraged Australians to show their thanks to all donors and their families on Sunday 17 November.

Minister Coulton also stressed the important role families play by saying yes to donation in the hospital and acknowledged there are many more families who said yes, however for a number of reasons donation was not possible.

The effects of organ and tissue donation benefit not only transplant recipients but also their families, friends, and communities.

Australians can take part in Thank You Day by sharing a thank you message acknowledging organ and tissue donors and their families on social media using the hashtags #DonateLife and #ThankYouDay2019.

The announcement is available on the Department of Health website.
