We provide grants to encourage more Australians and their families to talk about organ and tissue donation and register to be a donor.
We know that increasing awareness about organ and tissue donation – focused on encouraging families to talk about donation and registration – results in more people saying “yes” to donation.
In 2021, we’re running two grant rounds:
These two grant rounds offer unique opportunities to increase reach and engagement about organ and tissue donation with key target audience groups – both at a national and grass-roots level.
Across both opportunities, we’re looking to build a broad and diverse network of champions to reach those Australians who have no or low awareness about organ and tissue donation.
We’re also looking for applications that will engage with key target audience groups that have low representation on the Australian Organ Donation Register, including young Australians (aged 16-25), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
We look forward to working with our strategic partners and 2021 community grant recipients to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
Our DonateLife Partnerships are available through the 2020-21 Budget Measure: Partnerships – Promoting Organ and Tissue Donation, providing funding of $4 million over four years for us to partner with like-minded sporting, corporate and community organisations who have a national focus to further increase awareness about organ and tissue donation in Australia.
It builds on the success of our previous partnerships and delivers opportunities for cost-effective and sustained collaboration with partners to increase reach and engagement with key target audiences.
Over the next four years, we are looking to extend the reach of existing DonateLife communication activities and gain access to new audiences or channels that we couldn’t do alone – building a long-lasting and strategic program of collaboration along the way.
Previous DonateLife partnerships have delivered exceptional value for money, in-kind support, access to champions and exceptional audience reach that help us to deliver our national Community Awareness and Education Program.
Funding is available for organisations that can demonstrate they have a significant national reach or national awareness-building platform, within the following categories:
- Sporting
- Corporate and/or media
- Community with a focus on key target audiences
- Healthcare
The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to build national awareness, and to:
- build a broad and diverse network of high-profile champions or spokespeople for organ and tissue donation across Australia
- increase the national reach of the DonateLife community awareness and education program into new audiences, and strengthen the DonateLife brand
- have established or innovative ways of connecting nationally with the Australian community, with particular consideration for hard to reach audience groups including young Australians (aged 16-25), Indigenous Australians and Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Australians
- generate support for how and where to register on the Australian Organ Donor Register and have a conversation with your family about donation – driving long-lasting behavioural change.
