Archer – liver recipient, Vic

Archer was diagnosed with Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a rare genetic condition affecting both his liver and lungs, at three months.

Archer endured endless hospital admissions, procedures and operations. In 2018, he suffered a life-threatening bleed and was placed on the transplant list.

Earlier this year, as Archer’s family was preparing to move from Wodonga to Melbourne whilst awaiting his transplant, the life-saving phone call came through.

Within hours, Archer had a successful liver transplant at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Nikki says her heart is completely full, and that their family is treasuring every moment with Archer.

“I cannot stop staring at him. His skin and eyes are no longer yellow, and his body isn’t swollen. His smile is heart-melting, and I could listen to that giggle all day,” Nikki says.

“We wouldn’t be here without an amazing family making the selfless decision to donate in their deepest grief. While we are celebrating Archer’s second chance, they are going through their most horrendous of times.

“I do not think a ‘thank you’ to this hero family will ever be enough.”
