Max was diagnosed with vanishing bile duct syndrome when he was only aged ten.

As a big footy fan, Max was devastated when he was forced to stop playing the game he loved due to his unexpected medical condition. It started out as a rash, but quickly turned into a parents' nightmare.

"His whole body was covered in rashes, which then became painful blisters. His eyes and skin turned yellow. It was a big shock to us, going from a rash to needing a liver transplant," mum Caroline says.

Max received his liver transplant in 2016 and because of this life-saving transplant, Max is now able to share his love for footy with kids as a school Sports Director.

"We'll never know who Max's donor was, but we are so thankful to them for making that decision to donate. It's given Max the liver he needed and a new life,” Caroline shares.
