Nick – liver recipient, QLD

Young man in an orange shirt, standing in front of a brick wall, holding his hands in the shape of a heart.
I want to thank my donor for a second chance at life.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor and their family, 18-year-old liver recipient Nick has experienced milestones that were previously out of reach.

In just one year, he turned 18, got his P’s, completed Year 12, and represented Australia at the World Transplant Football Cup in Cervia, Italy.

It’s hard to believe he has any spare time left – but Nick also made the inter-school cross country team, plays soccer for North Star FC in Brisbane and loves to cook for the homeless.

Nick has so much to look forward to. He’s considering studying construction management, or perhaps becoming a famous football star!

Transplant recipients come from different backgrounds, and experience different health issues, but they’re united in their gratitude for donors and their families.

One organ donor can save the lives of up to 7 people and change the lives of many more through eye and tissue donation.
