Sakhon donated a kidney to her husband Colin (SA)

A man and a woman sit on a maroon couch, smiling at the camera while a black and white dog, licking its nose, rests in her lap.
My wife is my donor, and I’ve expressed extreme appreciation to her for the sacrifice she’s made. She made it of her own volition without blinking an eye about her own welfare.

Meet Colin and Sakhon, an inspiring couple whose shared donation story proves that love knows no limits when it comes to helping those we care about.

Together for 20 years, they’ve lived through some unbelievable challenges – from witnessing a tsunami in Thailand on their honeymoon, to escaping hurricanes in Hawaii and Japan. But none of this could compare to the challenge they faced when Colin was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a chronic kidney disease that can lead to kidney failure.

Diagnosed in 2005, Colin’s kidney function began to significantly decline in 2022. After 2 years of tests and waiting, a transplant became the only option. His donor? His soulmate, Sakhon.

Thanks to Sakhon’s selfless gift, Colin’s kidney function has quadrupled. He no longer suffers from fatigue and can finally return to the active lifestyle he once enjoyed, traveling the world with his beloved wife by his side.

Colin says, ‘My wife is my donor, and I’ve expressed extreme appreciation to her for the sacrifice she’s made. She made it of her own volition without blinking an eye about her own welfare.’
