National Donor Heroes’ Night

Donor Families Australia (DFA) wish to invite all Donor Families, Recipients and their family members to become involved in the Donor Heroes Night (DHN) 

Donor Heroes’ Night allows Donor Families to commemorate their Donor Loved One, Recipients to thank their Donor Family and the community to acknowledge those involved in organ/tissue donation and transplantation. Your involvement means a great deal to all Donor Families. 

The event also provides the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of having a discussion about organ and tissue donation within their own families, and to register your intent on the Australian Organ and Tissue Donor Register. 

You can simply take part by simply adding a photo and comment of your porch light/candle to the Donor Families Australia Facebook page as well as your own Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter accounts.

We want all Australians to talk about organ and tissue donation. If you want to be a donor, make sure you tell your family and friends.

Registering is easy and only takes one minute. All you need is your phone, Medicare card and one minute to register.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your medical history, your lifestyle, what country you’re from or how healthy you are — you can still register as an organ and tissue donor.

The Organ and Tissue Authority acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.
