National Donor Heroes Night 2024

Donor Families Australia (DFA) invite all Australians to get involved in this year's Donor Heroes Night (DHN). 

Donor Heroes Night is an opportunity for donor families to commemorate their loved ones, and for transplant recipients to thank their donor and their donor's family. All you need to do is light a candle or leave your porchlight on to remember the donor heroes who have saved so many lives through organ and tissue donation. 

Upload a photo of your porch light/candle to the Donor Families Australia Facebook page as well as your own Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter accounts. 

This is also a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of registering, and telling your family you want to be an organ and tissue donor.

We want all Australians to talk about organ and tissue donation. If you want to be a donor, make sure you tell your family and friends.

Registering is easy and only takes one minute. All you need is your phone, Medicare card and one minute to register.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your medical history, your lifestyle, what country you’re from or how healthy you are — you can still register as an organ and tissue donor.

The Organ and Tissue Authority acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.
