Applications are now open for up to $750,000 for community-based initiatives in 2022, including up to three-years of funding for national events.
Since 2009, we have been providing more than $5.0 million in community grants to run projects that encourage more Australians and their families to talk about organ and tissue donation and register to be a donor. We know that increasing awareness about donation results in more people saying ‘yes’ to donation.
COVID-19 continues to have an impact on our national program to increase donation so more people can receive a life-saving transplant. Now more than ever, it is important that we engage with community partners as part of our community engagement and education program.
This year, we’re looking for applications that can help us target audiences that are underrepresented on the Australian Organ Donor Register, including young people, First Nations Peoples, or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) groups.
Grants will be offered across three categories:
-
National events – annual national community awareness events that reach mass audiences across Australia (multi-year funding available)
-
Media or publicity – media, public relations and/or digital activities targeting young people, First Nations Peoples, and/or CALD groups
-
Research or education projects – research or behavioural change projects, or the development and distribution of education resources, for young people, First Nations Peoples, or CALD groups.
In the past, successful projects delivered by community partners have included:
-
targeted digital advertising campaigns
-
educational resources for secondary school students
-
awareness days to get the community talking about organ and tissue donation
-
video resources and distribution strategies for specific cultural groups.
On our grants page you can find more information about who is eligible to apply for a grant, how to apply, and guidelines to support your application process.
We look forward to assessing your applications and working with our 2022 community partners to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
Applications for 2022 funding open today, Friday 22 October 2021 and closes at 10:00am AEDT, Friday 19 November 2021. Multi-year funding of up to three years is available for national events applications. Successful applicants will be announced in February 2022.
