Commemorating donors

For many families, commemorating their loved one’s generosity in becoming a donor is very important. It is also valuable for those who have received a transplant and the broader community to recognise and acknowledge donors.

Family and friends can participate in an annual remembrance service, DonateLife Thank You Day, share their personal stories and wear a DonateLife lapel pin.

Service of Remembrance

DonateLife Services of Remembrance are held each year across the states and territories to commemorate the generosity of donors and their families. These events offer an opportunity for families to gather and remember.

Thank You Day

The DonateLife Thank You Day is held each year to publicly acknowledge the generosity of donors and their families. Thank You Day encourages all Australians to take part by creating and sharing a thank you message on social media.

Donor family lapel pin

The donor family lapel pin has been specially designed for families to wear to commemorate their loved one’s donation. If you are a donor family member and would like a pin, please contact your local DonateLife Agency.

We want all Australians to talk about organ and tissue donation. If you want to be a donor, make sure you tell your family and friends.

Registering is easy and only takes one minute. All you need is your phone, Medicare card and one minute to register.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your medical history, your lifestyle, what country you’re from or how healthy you are — you can still register as an organ and tissue donor.

The Organ and Tissue Authority acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.
