Associate Professor Andrew Turner has been the Director of the Critical Care Medicine Department at Royal Hobart Hospital since 2007. He was honorary treasurer of the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) for 8 years, and has been honorary secretary since 2010. He is also a clinical lecturer at the University of Tasmania.
Andrew’s role sees him advocating for the health of Australians waiting for organ transplantation. He actively fosters a culture that supports organ donation and the families of organ donors.
Susan Towns joined the DonateLife TAS leadership team as State Manager in late 2012. Susan began her nursing career in 1993 and has developed clinical and management experience across a variety of healthcare settings in acute care, women’s health and gynaecology, wound care, paediatrics and IVF. Since 2012 Susan has coordinated the successful implementation of an independent service delivery model for DonateLife TAS, which has resulted in significant growth for the statewide service.
Alex Goward was appointed as Clinical Nursing Manager with DonateLife TAS in early 2019. As an integral member of the team, Alex provides nursing leadership for donation casework and clinical services. Alex’s nursing career began in 1993, and has included nursing positions both interstate and internationally in Saudi Arabia. Alex has a strong focus on quality and patient safety, and the delivery of high quality patient and family care.
DonateLife TAS staff
The DonateLife TAS staff is comprised of donation specialist medical and nursing staff. The highly skilled team of organ and tissue donation specialists support the family and donation process and provide education to the community and clinicians.
DonateLife Agency staff also includes the donor family support coordinator, education coordinators, communications and media staff and administrative support.
